What our customers say

  • Sophie T.

The report gave me everything I needed. Turned out the car had been in 2 accidents. The seller never mentioned it.

  • Tom G.

There was a safety recall on the brakes that hadn’t been fixed. I would’ve never known without the report. That alone made it worth it.

Got to see old photos of the car with front-end damage. Seller claimed it was never in an accident. So glad I checked

The report showed the mileage had been rolled back by over 80,000 miles. Totally changed my mind about buying it.

FAQ

Here we have collected answers to the most popular questions from our customers.

What will I learn from a VIN check?

A VIN check gives you a deeper look into a car’s past, helping you spot issues that might not be visible at first glance. You’ll learn if the vehicle has been in any accidents, whether the mileage has been rolled back, how many owners it’s had, and if there are any open recalls or title problems. It can also reveal if the car was ever reported stolen or salvaged, show past sale listings, and even include old photos and technical specs. All of this helps you make a more confident and informed decision before buying.

Does the check work for all cars?

We provide data for the vast majority of cars, SUVs, and light trucks on the road today. As long as the vehicle has a standard 17-digit VIN, there’s a good chance we can run a full history check on it. Whether you’re buying from a dealership, a private seller, or just doing your own research, our system is built to cover most vehicles in the U.S. market.

Why should I check the VIN before buying?

Because not all problems are visible, even a car that looks perfect on the outside could be hiding serious issues underneath. It might have a salvage title, past damage that wasn’t disclosed, tampered mileage, or unresolved safety recalls. These are things you won’t spot with a quick test drive or a clean exterior. A VIN check gives you the full story behind the vehicle — so you can make an informed decision, avoid costly surprises, and feel confident about your next move.

What is a VIN number?

A VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) is a unique 17-character code assigned to every vehicle. It tells you important details like the car’s make, model, year, place of manufacture, and more. We use the VIN to uncover your car’s full history — from past accidents to mileage, ownership, and recalls.

Where can I find my car’s VIN?

You can usually find the VIN by looking at the lower-left corner of the dashboard, right where it meets the windshield on the driver’s side. It’s often also located inside the driver’s door frame, near the latch, or under the hood on the engine block. If you have access to the vehicle’s documents, the VIN is typically printed on the title, registration papers, insurance policy, or service records. And if you’re buying from a seller and can’t locate it yourself, they should be able to provide it either from the vehicle or from the paperwork.
